Land and crop maintenance and agronomist
Cocagi, Rwanda
In the 25/26 Financial Year, our partnership with the Cocagi Femme women’s coffee cooperative in Rwanda continues to grow — quite literally, from the ground up.
Together, we are funding the ongoing maintenance and care of 12 hectares of coffee-growing land, ensuring the women behind Cocagi Femme can focus on cultivating healthy, resilient crops without carrying the financial burden alone. Supporting the land, supporting the women
Maintaining productive coffee land is a year-round commitment. This season, our funding supports essential agricultural practices that protect the soil, strengthen the trees, and improve long-term yields, including:
- Organic manure and compost to enrich the soil naturally
- Mulching, which helps prevent erosion, retain moisture, and support beneficial microorganisms
- Weeding and pruning, including the removal of dried branches and strategic splitting of branches to train coffee trees to produce higher cherry yields
- Transferring seedlings from the plant nursery into the fields, securing the future of the plantation
Each of these steps plays a critical role in ensuring the land remains productive, sustainable, and capable of producing exceptional coffee year after year.

We also continue to fund the salary of a dedicated agronomist who oversees crop maintenance and supports the farming community with expert guidance. This role is vital — ensuring best practices are followed, challenges are addressed early, and the women are supported with the knowledge needed to grow strong, healthy crops.
Farming isn’t just physical work — it’s planning, learning, and growing together. That’s why we fund quarterly cooperative meetings, where the women of Cocagi Femme come together to:
- Share ideas and experiences
- Review progress across the plantation
- Work on strategic planning
- Set next steps and clear action points
These meetings empower the women to take ownership of their cooperative, build leadership skills, and shape the future of their land and livelihoods.
By choosing St Remio coffee, you are directly supporting this work. Your purchase allows the Cocagi Femme farmers to cultivate a strong, healthy crop without the financial pressure that often holds farming communities back. St Remio carries the cost of land maintenance and agronomic support, giving the women the freedom to focus on quality, sustainability, and growth.
That freedom builds confidence.
Confidence builds capability.
And capability builds long-term independence.
This project isn’t just about coffee — it’s about investing in people, land, and futures.
