What Rainforest Alliance Certified Actually Means for Your Coffee

Look closely at a bag of St Remio and you'll spot a small green frog. It's the Rainforest Alliance seal, and it's one of the easiest ways to know a bit more about where your coffee comes from. Here's what it means.
Who are the Rainforest Alliance?
The Rainforest Alliance is an international non-profit that works with farmers and businesses to protect forests and improve livelihoods. Its certification is awarded to farms that meet a set of standards, and farms are audited to keep it.
What Rainforest Alliance certified coffee covers
The standards look at the whole farm, not just the beans. They cover protecting forests and wildlife, looking after soil and water, safe and fair working conditions, and helping farmers build more resilient incomes. So when a coffee carries the seal, it's been grown on farms working towards all of those things, not just one.
Which St Remio coffees are certified
Much of our range carries the seal, including our ST FRANCIS, ST ANNE-MARIE and ST GRACE café blends, INTENSE and BRAZIL whole beans, and our CLASSIC, SUPREME and INTENSE Expressi® and Caffitaly® compatible capsules. Look for the frog on the pack.
Certification plus something more
Certification is one part of how we think about coffee. The other is going directly to the source. Since 2017, St Remio has funded projects with women's coffee cooperatives in Rwanda, and since 2019 we've partnered with the Cocagi Women's Coffee Farming Cooperative, funding land, training and agronomists. It's an investment in growers, not charity. Curious about the women behind it? Meet Patricia, the agronomist behind Cocagi's coffee, or see the projects your coffee funds.
Shop St Remio coffee and look for the frog.
